Latest News from HB United Representatives from 13 Senior and 3 Junior football clubs attended the Central Football Club Forum on July 12th to meet the Hawke's Bay United Board and discuss the proposed new constitution for the Hawke's Bay Football Franchise. Deputy Chairman of Central Football Mike Devonshire addressed the meeting outlining the Federation's commitment to the franchise and the need for the game to become more closely aligned, through the implementation of New Zealand Football's 'Whole of Football Plan', while Central Football Chief Executive Bob Patterson underlined the Federation's total commitment to further develop and support the franchise as Hawke's Bays High Performance football brand and a key element of the football pathway. Hawke's Bay United Chairman, Colin Stone outlined the history of the franchise and the role that Napier City Rovers had played in ensuring that National League Football was maintained for Hawke's Bay. "The football community owe Napier City Rovers a great debt of gratitude, for their work in establishing and underwriting the franchise, but it is now time to make the next step and develop the franchise into a true regional entity where all the clubs of Hawke's Bay have equal buy in and 'ownership', not just one club", Colin Stone said. The draft constitution sets out a one club/one vote system and allows for all the clubs of Hawke's Bay, affiliated to Central Football to become voting members. The new constitution also allows for all individual members of any Hawke's Bay Football Club to be an automatic non voting member. The club representatives unanimously supported the ethos of the new constitution and accepted the need to better support the franchise. From the feedback received at the meeting, further minor changes would be made to the constitution and this would be circulated back to the clubs. Clubs were asked to discuss the proposed constitution and , through Central Football, report back their support for the pathway forward. The deadline for the is 5pm Friday 20th August. Should there be a positive move to change to the new constitution, a Special General Meeting will be convened to make the changes and allow for the Franchise to operate its AGM in late September under the new constitution. The Board of Hawke's Bay United have made themselves available to meet with individual club committees who may require further information. Hawke's Bay United have received the FIRST DRAFT!!! of the Fixture Lists for this year's New Zealand Football Championship, National Youth League and the National Womens Youth League. This is the inaugural year for womens youth teams and we wish this competition all the best. Hawke's Bay United have teams in the NZFC and the NYL, but the womens team is being administered by our strategic partners Central Football and do not come under the HB United banner at present. Our draw is very similar to last years although our first two games are away, with the competition set to begin on October 16th for some teams. Our first home game looks to be on November 14th against Otago United, with our HB United National Youth League team as curtain-raisers. As mentioned this is the first draft, and these have been known to change in previous years. However, this is the information we have and we will update it as required. We will let you know when we have the finalised Fixtures List. Until then, here are the Draws ... (The NYL and NWYL draws begin at Column H if you're having trouble finding them). Proposed changes to the Hawke's Bay United Constitution Following the winning of the rights to represent Hawke's Bay in the 2010/11 & 2011/12 New Zealand Football Championship, the board of HBU are moving swiftly to ensure that the clubs of Hawke's Bay have better opportunity to have their say, regarding the franchise. "From the board's perspective it is absolutely vital that our organization becomes a true regionally focused franchise, whereby the clubs of Hawke's Bay become its members", says Hawke's Bay United Chairman Colin Stone. The club has drafted a new constitution, which will be discussed at a special meeting led and convened by Central Football. This meeting will take place on Monday 12th July, 5.30pm, at the Lady Pettigrew Theatre, Pettigrew Green Arena.
